The late Mother Mary Harrison-Dozier, a woman who exemplified and epitomized extreme strength, courage, love and unmeasured wisdom. Yet she was soft, peaceful and humble as a dove! She raised six children including her granddaughter Rene' Dozier-Riles and she taught each one the importance of giving back and to always give the best that they have and to do the best that they could. Mother Dozier led by precept and example and her very surroundings were able to witness her leadership.
The family matriarch who our admiration was built around left her legacy in ours hearts. The desire for others to succeed and have a place to live was very common with Mother Dozier. Although she suffered many hardships and heartaches her distinguished ways and lovable heart always was exemplified through the very dignity and integrity in her!
Her life was full of happiness, joy and love for God and others. She would never give it a second thought if someone asked if they could stay with her, she would also find room for them to sleep and made them all comfortable in her home. Mother Dozier taught her children
the importance of providing for and taking care of their family. Per her son-in-law (R.T.) "She was the only person that I've known to fry one chicken and feed her entire family and grandchildren."
Mother Dozier was the Mother of New Birth Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of Dr. George W. Pryor from 1964 to 2002 the year of her eternal rest. She was better known as Mother Love at her Church. Her favorite saying was "You Just Can't Beat Love, Not Even With A Stick"! In other words she was saying, that you just won't find anything else better than LOVE in life! Her advice to her family was always the same "NEVER GIVE UP and Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." - Proverbs 3: 5-6
